The Lisbon Airport, also known as Portela Airport, is the largest Portuguese airport with the highest traffic volume. It was opened to passengers in 1942 and it has, nowadays, two civilian terminals (T1 and T2), commercial areas and a subway station that connects the airport to the main points of the city. Between 2009 and 2014, it was recorded a substantial increase of the number of daily passengers, reaching 18 million annual passengers.
